About the Role

Position Summary:
The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and managing grant opportunities to support KC Growth Foundation's programs and operational goals. This role requires a strong writer who can translate organizational priorities into compelling, fundable narratives and manage the full grant lifecycle from research through reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and corporate funders aligned with the organization's mission
- Write, edit, and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and required supporting documentation
- Maintain a grant calendar tracking submission deadlines, award statuses, and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with internal staff to gather program data, budgets, and outcome metrics needed for applications
- Prepare and submit funder reports in accordance with grant terms and deadlines
- Maintain organized records of all submissions, correspondence, and grant outcomes
- Support relationship management with current and prospective funders as needed

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field

  • Proven experience writing and securing grants (nonprofit or government)

  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously

  • Familiarity with grant databases such as Candid/GuideStar or Grants.gov
